Upkeep

Keep your town funded to avoid decay and maintain your claims.

Town upkeep costs 3 gold per day. This is automatically deducted from your town bank daily.

Check your current balance and upkeep status:

/town show

Upkeep is charged:

  • Daily — automatically deducted from town bank
  • If insufficient funds — town enters “debt” state

If your town bank runs out of money, the town enters debt for 14 days. During debt:

  • Cannot claim new chunks
  • Cannot build in claimed territory
  • Cannot recruit new residents

Deposit gold into your town bank to pay off debt:

/town deposit <amount>

Once you have enough gold, the debt is cleared and normal functions resume.

If a town remains in debt for 14 days, it will be deleted permanently. All claims, builds, and town data will be lost.

14 Day Deadline

You have 14 days from entering debt to deposit gold. After 14 days, your town will be deleted!

The town bank holds gold for upkeep and expenses:

/town deposit <amount>
/town withdraw <amount>

Who can access bank: Mayors, Overseers, and Treasurers can deposit and withdraw. All residents can deposit. See Permissions for details.

Ways to fund your town:

  1. Resident taxes — set with /town set taxes <amount>
  2. Mayor contributions — deposit your own gold
  3. Shop revenue — if you run shops in town
  4. Donations — residents can contribute voluntarily

Charge residents a daily tax:

/town set taxes <amount>

Who can set taxes: Mayors and Treasurers can set town taxes. See Permissions for details.

You’ll receive warnings when:

  • Bank is low — less than 3 days of upkeep
  • Upkeep due soon — payment is coming up
  • Town is ruined — bank ran out and claims are at risk

If bank is low:

  1. Deposit gold immediately
  2. Increase taxes if needed
  3. Ask residents to contribute

If town is ruined:

  1. Deposit gold ASAP
  2. Claims may be lost if not fixed quickly
  3. Contact staff if you need help

Best practices:

  • Keep 7+ days of upkeep in bank
  • Monitor regularly — check /town show weekly
  • Set reasonable taxes — ensure steady income
  • Have backup funds — mayor keeps emergency gold
