Claims

Control territory by claiming chunks. Each claim protects your builds and gives you control over that land.

Stand in the chunk you want to claim and run:

/town claim

This claims the chunk you’re standing in. Each claim costs 64 gold.

Who can claim: Mayors, Overseers, Councillors, and Settlers can claim chunks. See Permissions for details.

Residents: Each resident provides 16 chunks of claim capacity.

Town range: Each town provides a 1500 block range from its home block. This allows for “chain” expansion—towns can expand outward in a connected pattern.

3 adjacent chunk rule: When expanding, towns must maintain 3 adjacent chunks in a connected pattern. You cannot skip chunks or create gaps—all claims must be adjacent to existing claims. This ensures contiguous territory.

Initial bonus: Towns no longer receive an initial chunk bonus. You start with chunks based on your resident count and nation bonus.

Nation bonus: See Nations for details on how nation bonus works.

Expand when:

  • You need more building space
  • You want to protect resources (mines, farms)
  • You’re ready to grow your settlement

Outposts are currently disabled. All claims must be connected to your main town territory. You cannot create separate claim groups away from your town.

Always backup important builds before unclaiming chunks. Once unclaimed:

  • Protection is removed
  • Anyone can build or break blocks
  • Chests become accessible
  1. Audit the chunk — check for valuable builds or items
  2. Move valuables — relocate chests and important structures
  3. Notify residents — let your town know if you’re unclaiming
  4. Unclaim — use /town unclaim (mayor only)

Unclaimed chunks create gaps in your territory. Consider:

  • Security — gaps allow access to your interior
  • Aesthetics — clean borders look better
  • Expansion — you may want those chunks later

Permanent Loss

Unclaiming is usually permanent. Make sure you really want to give up that territory!
