Town Mechanics

Understand how outlaws, plot permissions, and other town mechanics work.

Outlaw status:

  • Outlaws can always be harmed inside towns where they are outlawed
  • This bypasses normal PvP restrictions in claimed territory
  • Towns receive a warning when an outlaw enters their claimed territory
  • Use this system to mark players who have caused problems for your town
/town outlaw add <player>
/town outlaw remove <player>
/town outlaw list

Who can manage outlaws: Mayors can add and remove outlaws. Wardens can jail outlaws who enter town. See Permissions for details.

Outlaw effects:

  • Outlaws can be attacked even in no-PvP areas within your town
  • Your town receives notifications when outlaws enter your claims
  • Outlaws can be jailed by Wardens without normal restrictions

Outlaw Warnings

Your town will be notified when an outlaw enters your claims. Be ready to defend if needed!

Plot flags control what actions are allowed in specific plots:

Common flags:

  • build — control who can place blocks
  • destroy — control who can break blocks
  • switch — control buttons/levers (for shops and redstone)
  • itemuse — control chests/furnaces/containers
  • pvp — control PvP in plots

Setting flags:

/plot set flag <flag> <true/false>
/plot toggle <flag>

Who can set permissions: Mayors, Overseers, Councillors, and Builders can manage plot permissions. See Permissions for details.

Shop plots:

  • Optional plot type for organizing shop areas
  • Allows players to use containers and buttons/levers
  • Set with /plot set type shop

Arena plots:

  • Special PvP areas with unique mechanics
  • Players keep items upon death (no item loss)
  • Weapons and armor do not degrade (no durability loss)
  • Useful for training and PvP events
  • Set with /plot set type arena

Jail plots:

  • Used by Wardens to jail players
  • Set with /plot set type jail
  • Only Wardens can create and manage jail plots

Trusted players have special access to your town:

  • Can build in most plots (unless specifically restricted)
  • May access town bank (if set by mayor)
  • Can help manage town without being a resident

Granting trust:

/town add trusted <player>

Removing trust:

/town remove trusted <player>

Checking trusted players:

/town show trusted

Trusted players:

  • Not official town residents
  • Can be removed easily
  • Limited permissions compared to residents
  • Useful for temporary helpers or allies

Residents:

  • Official town members
  • Contribute to claim capacity (16 chunks each)
  • Have access to town spawn and chat
  • More permanent relationship

To create a player shop in your town:

  1. Permissions: You need MODIFY permission on the plot (ability to build)

  2. Plot flags: The plot needs switch and itemuse flags enabled for shop functionality

    /plot set flag switch true
    /plot set flag itemuse true

Note: Shop plots are optional and not required to create shops. You can create shops in any plot with the proper permissions and flags.

Town shops are shops owned by the town itself:

  • Shop owner is the town (not an individual player)
  • All purchases deposit/withdraw from town bank account
  • Created with /quickshop town command
  • Requires appropriate permissions

Who can create: Players with permission to manage town shops (typically Mayors, Overseers, Treasurers)

Nation shops are shops owned by the nation:

  • Shop owner is the nation (not an individual player)
  • All purchases deposit/withdraw from nation bank account
  • Created with /quickshop nation command
  • Requires appropriate permissions

Who can create: Players with permission to manage nation shops (typically Kings, Regents, Stewards)

Shops are automatically deleted when:

  • Plot is unclaimed
  • Plot is cleared
  • Resident leaves the town (if configured)
  • Plot permissions change and owner loses access
