Limits

Server limits to maintain performance and prevent lag. These limits are automatically enforced.

The server monitors entity counts in each chunk and removes excess entities to prevent lag farms.

Farm animals (per chunk):

  • Pigs, Cows, Horses, Rabbits, Sheep, Chickens — 20 each
  • Wolves — 20 total
  • Cats — Unlimited
  • Axolotls — 20
  • Bees — 20
  • Frogs — 15
  • Goats — 20
  • Hoglins — 20
  • Piglins — 20
  • Camels — 10
  • Donkeys, Mules, Llamas — Unlimited
  • Parrots — 10
  • Polar Bears — 10
  • Foxes — 10
  • Dolphins — 10
  • Squid, Glow Squid — 20 total
  • Fish (Cod, Salmon, Pufferfish, Tropical Fish) — 20 each

Animal group limit: Maximum 40 total animals per chunk (combined count of all farm animals).

Hostile mobs (per chunk):

  • Zombies, Skeletons, Creepers, Spiders — 30 each
  • Slimes, Magma Cubes — 30 total
  • Endermen, Endermites — 30 each
  • Blazes, Cave Spiders — 30 each
  • Ghasts — 30
  • Silverfish — 30
  • Drowned, Husks, Strays — 20 each
  • Wither Skeletons — 10
  • Zombified Piglins — 20
  • Phantoms — 20
  • Witches — 20
  • Zombie Horses, Skeleton Horses — 10 each
  • Wardens — 10
  • Elder Guardians — 10

Monster group limit: Maximum 40 total monsters per chunk (combined count of all hostile mobs).

Decorative/utility:

  • Armor Stands — 10 per chunk
  • Item Frames — 30 per chunk
  • Allays — 20 per chunk
  • Villagers — 20 per chunk
  • Iron Golems — 20 per chunk
  • Snow Golems — Unlimited
  • Arrows — 10 per chunk

Bosses:

  • Ender Dragon — 5 total
  • Wither — 10 total

Maximum wolves per player: 3 wolves can follow you at once. Additional wolves will automatically sit down.

This prevents players from creating massive wolf armies that lag the server.

These blocks have limits per chunk to prevent lag machines:

  • Hoppers — 10 per chunk
  • Pistons — 10 per chunk
  • Sticky Pistons — 10 per chunk
  • Observers — 10 per chunk

Bypass: Players with special permissions can bypass these limits.

Block Limits

Exceeding block limits may prevent you from placing more of that block type. Redesign your contraptions to use fewer blocks!

The server automatically checks and cleans chunks around players every 30 seconds.

How it works:

  • Checks chunks within 2 chunks of players (9 chunks total)
  • Removes excess entities that exceed limits
  • Prevents lag farms from impacting server performance

What gets cleaned:

  • Excess mobs above the per-chunk limits
  • Items on the ground
  • Projectiles and temporary entities

Animal farms:

  • Keep animal counts under 20 per type per chunk
  • Name important animals to protect them
  • Don’t exceed 40 total animals per chunk
  • Use multiple chunks for larger farms

Mob farms:

  • Keep mob counts under 30 per type per chunk
  • Don’t exceed 40 total monsters per chunk
  • Use off-switches to turn farms off when not in use
  • Monitor entity counts regularly

Redstone contraptions:

  • Limit hoppers to 10 per chunk
  • Limit pistons/observers to 10 per chunk
  • Use efficient designs that minimize block updates
  • All clocks must have off-switches

Automatic removal:

  • Excess entities are removed automatically
  • Cleanup happens every 30 seconds around active players

Manual intervention:

  • Staff may disable or remove laggy farms
  • Farms causing server issues may be removed
  • Players may be warned or penalized for excessive lag creation

Performance Impact

Exceeding limits will result in automatic entity removal. Design your farms to stay within limits to avoid losing mobs!

  1. Spread out farms — Use multiple chunks instead of cramming everything into one
  2. Name your animals — Protects them from cleanup
  3. Tame animals — Tamed animals are always protected
  4. Monitor counts — Check entity counts regularly with F3
  5. Use off-switches — Turn farms off when not in use
  6. Optimize designs — Use efficient farm designs that minimize entity counts
  7. Limit wolf armies — Only 3 wolves can follow you at once
