Roles

Understand the roles in your settlement and how to manage permissions effectively. See Permissions for detailed permission lists for each rank.

The Mayor is the town founder and has full control:

  • Create and delete the town
  • Claim and unclaim chunks
  • Invite and kick residents
  • Set taxes and bank access
  • Manage all plots and permissions
  • Promote other ranks
  • Send town broadcasts

Overseer — Second-in-command with near-mayor authority:

  • Full control over settings, claims, ranks, and bank
  • Intended future implementation: will become heir of the town
  • Nearly all mayor powers except town deletion

Councillor — General admin:

  • Invite and kick residents
  • Toggle town openness
  • Manage plot permissions
  • Manage claims

Treasurer — Finance control:

  • Deposit and withdraw from town bank
  • Set taxes
  • Manage plot/shop/embassy prices

Settler — Land growth:

  • Claim and unclaim chunks
  • Create and manage outposts (if enabled)

Builder — Plot management:

  • Claim and unclaim plots
  • Set plot permissions and types
  • Toggle plot flags

Recruiter — Onboarding:

  • Send and add invites to the town

Commander — Military lead:

  • Strategic spawns
  • Siege/war actions (if enabled)
  • Can initiate raids

Warden — Jail operations:

  • Create and manage jail plots
  • Jail and unjail residents

Guard — Basic town defender:

  • Participation access
  • No admin powers

Residents are members of your town:

  • Build in allowed plots
  • Use town spawn
  • Contribute to upkeep
  • Vote on town decisions (if enabled)

The King or Emperor is the nation leader with full control:

  • Create and delete the nation
  • Manage all nation settings
  • Control diplomacy and alliances
  • Manage nation bank
  • Promote other ranks

Regent — Second-in-command with broad nation control:

  • Control over settings, diplomacy, ranks, and bank
  • Intended future implementation: will become heir of the nation
  • Nearly all king powers except nation deletion

Magistrate — Nation admin:

  • Manage nation spawn and board
  • Toggle openness settings
  • Manage alliances and enemies
  • Invite and kick towns
  • Limited rank management

Colonist/Settler — Expansion:

  • Invite and add towns to the nation

Marshal — Top military commander:

  • Leads offensive and defensive actions
  • Coordinates military operations

Captain — Field officer:

  • Participates in military actions
  • Fewer leadership powers than Marshal

Noble — Prestige role:

  • Mobility privileges (e.g., nation spawn access)
  • No admin powers

Steward — Finance manager:

  • Deposit and withdraw from nation bank
  • Manage nation taxes

Soldier — Basic nation attacker/participant:

  • Operational access
  • No admin or diplomacy powers

Envoy — Diplomat:

  • Manage allies and enemies
  • Coordinate diplomacy

The following ranks are being discontinued:

  • Assistant
  • Helper
  • VIP
  • Sheriff

These legacy ranks are scheduled for removal. Use the new rank system instead.

Control who can build where using plots:

/plot set <plotname>
/plot trust <player>
/plot untrust <player>

Configure plot permissions:

/plot set flag <flag> <value>

Common flags:

  • build — allow building
  • destroy — allow breaking blocks
  • switch — allow using buttons/levers
  • itemuse — allow using items (chests, furnaces)

Trusted players have special access:

  • Can build in most plots
  • May access town bank (if set)
  • Can invite others (if assistant)

Trust a player with:

/town add trusted <player>

See who has access:

/town show
/plot info
  • Regular audits — review who has access monthly
  • Remove inactive — kick players who haven’t logged in
  • Limit assistants — only promote trusted, active players
  • Document permissions — keep notes on who can do what
